Getting started

How do I create an account?

Choose Tutor, Parent, or Student from the sign-in screen. Students need a Parent account linked first — a parent creates the child's profile and shares a one-time code the child enters to link their own account.

My child already has a TeachME account — how do I link it?

As the parent, go to My Children → Link with child account to generate a one-time code. Your child enters that code in their own app to link the accounts. Linking is optional — you can also manage a child entirely from your own account without a separate login for them.

Booking & lessons

How do I book a tutor?

Parents search for tutors by subject and year level, then propose a day and time directly with the tutor through in-app messaging. Once both sides agree, the lesson is confirmed and added to your calendar.

Where do lessons actually happen?

You choose at booking: your home, a local library, or — for adult students only — the tutor's home. For a home lesson, a parent or guardian must be present for the whole session.

How do I reschedule or cancel a lesson?

Open the lesson from your calendar and choose to reschedule (just once, or for the whole recurring series) or cancel. Cancelling before a lesson happens doesn't charge you, and any paid credit stays on your account for a future lesson.

What happens if a lesson doesn't go ahead as planned?

After a lesson's scheduled time, both the tutor and parent confirm it happened before payment is released. If something's wrong — the tutor didn't show, for example — you can dispute it instead of confirming, and our team reviews it before any money moves.

Payments

How does payment work?

You prepay for lessons with a specific tutor. Your payment is held securely until the lesson actually happens and both sides confirm it — the tutor is only paid after that. Card payments are processed by Stripe; TeachME never sees or stores your full card details.

Can I get a refund?

Yes — email us at teachmeappadmin@gmail.com and we'll refund any unused, paid lesson credit to your original payment method.

Why was my card charged automatically?

If a confirmed lesson is coming up within about 24 hours and hasn't been prepaid yet, we automatically charge your saved card so the lesson is funded before it happens. You'll always be notified when this happens, and you can manage or remove saved cards in the app at any time.

Safety & trust

How are tutors screened?

Every tutor must hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) and a valid, active ABN (verified against the Australian Business Register) before they're approved to teach on TeachME.

How do I report a concern about a tutor or another user?

From a chat, a lesson, or your calendar, use the report/flag option to send a concern straight to our team. We review every report and can suspend or remove an account where needed.

Is my child's information kept private?

Yes — we only collect what's needed to run tutoring, and it's never sold. Parents control what a linked child account can see and do (messaging, materials) through parental controls. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

Your account

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Account → Delete account from within the app. This permanently removes your profile and personal data; some records (like payment transactions) are kept only as long as required for tax and legal purposes.

I'm having a technical problem with the app — what do I do?

Email teachmeappadmin@gmail.com with a description of what happened (and a screenshot if you can) and we'll help sort it out.
